Today I got distracted thinking about the number of guilds that I personally know of who have gone into hibernation or shut up shop recently. This is a common phenomenon that occurs after new content. People come on play hard, burn out, get bored, then take a break until the next big release.
Because so many players have taken time out it can sometimes make filling raids more challenging for those who didnt eat their whole bag of lollies in the first few hours.
Chauvinist is a word that arose because of the over-the-top antics of Nicholas Chauvin.
(Male chauvinism is a term used to describe the belief that men are superior to woman.)
Many years ago I worked at a decorating store part time. I was employed to advise on wallpaper, decoration and paint supplies. I knew my stuff and was one of the top sales people.
However there were the old school men who would come into the store and have to talk to a man (because the little woman wouldnt know about paint!)
I play WoW and I don't live in my parents basement.
I play WoW and I am not a fat geeky little boy who has no social life.
I got a haircut and a real job.
I shower regularly
After a recent influx of new recruits, it got me thinking about the dynamics of the people in game Vs peoples perception of Geeks being the only ones who play MMORPG's.
1. I am 50% Irish -descended from English,Irish, Scottish and Welsh stock. My ancestors has been breeding the Irish out for generations... In one crazy moment I bred it back in - my son is 75% Irish
2. I am the middle born child of three. Both of my siblings are brothers. Mum and Dad must just have got lucky with me.
Partially due to my thirst for achievements, partial because of Wow/Life balance and partly because I had nothing to say. Add to that everytime I had a spark of an idea Sardonica seemed to have the idea soon enough before me to post something first. Which left me with the options of posting and have it appear I was following his thought patterns or say nothing (other than the curses under my breath) .. I opted for the latter.
So you may have seen the screen shot where I hid the offenders name who tried to buy back into guild.. Well it seems some people are unbalanced and I am tired of the harrassment and abuse from this person - so today they lost the right to have identity protection.
I havent posted much over the long weekend because it was my sons 15th Birthday on Saturday and I have also tried to take advantage of the long weekend to get some of the things in the garden undercontrol... alas I am one person and its bloody hard work to be trying to do a dozen things alone. However I managed to create some large piles of organic rubbish and get another 3-4 jobs half done lol
I have several things rattling around in my head at the moment following some inguild raids this week. We had a guild 25 man ToC run which highlighted some issues inguild.
